Nygren To Step Down As Assembly Co-Chair

One of the state’s most powerful Republican lawmakers is stepping down. Marinette assemblyman John Nygren announced on Tuesday that he’s stepping down to pursue a job in the private sector. Nygren was the Assembly co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee, and served in the Assembly for 7 terms. He was critical in changes to laws that made the J-F-C a lynchpin in how the Legislature controls the flow of money through state agencies. His Senate co-chair, Alberta Darling, is being replaced by conservative lawmaker Duey Strobel.
