Oakfield Custodian Charged With Thefts From School

A 47-year-old Fond du Lac man who works as a custodian at the Oakfield Junior/Senior High School has been charged for allegedly stealing money from the district after basketball games. Mark Hoffman allegedly admitted to Oakfield Police that he stole concession sales money from a school vault. A camera was set up in the vault after school officials became suspicious earlier this month. According to the criminal complaint he was caught on video after a game last Friday night and the Oakfield Police Chief Rene Schuster caught him in the act after a game Tuesday night.  He told investigators he was having financial problems. Hoffman made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Court Thursday and was charged with two counts each of felony burglary and misdemeanor theft. He was released on a $2,500 signature bond and has a preliminary hearing on March 14th.
