Oakfield Elementary Teacher Being Recognized As Hometown Hero

The Wisconsin State Assembly will recognize Jodi Schmidt of Oakfield as a “Hometown Hero” Tuesday. The 3rd grade teacher at Oakfield Elementary was nominated by State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt for donating one of her kidneys to 8-year-old student Natasha Fuller. Natasha suffered from a rare defect that resulted in kidney dialysis three times a week. Schmidt was a perfect match for a kidney transplant and the transplant was successfully performed last May. Both made full recoveries.
