Oakfield HS Girls BB Team Contribute To Caring For You Fund

The Oakfield High School girls basketball team recently raised more than $1,300 to benefit the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s Caring for You Fund.

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s Carol Hyland Caring for You Fund was established in 2010 for families requiring assistance with basic life needs they are unable to afford during cancer treatment, or care for other long-term illnesses.

The fund, supported by the Farrah Fawcett Foundation out of California, has already been used to help people make rent, cover utility bills, fill an LP tank, and provide gas and grocery cards to families affected by cancer or other health crisis.

The basketball team conducted a “Hoops for Hope” fund-raiser to support women currently in treatment for breast cancer. Money was raised from T-shirt sales, as well as donations from the team’s January 27 home game against Winnebago Lutheran Academy.

The donation was recently presented to Shawn Fisher (center), foundation assistant, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation, by (left to right) Shaina Newton, Madelyn Ryan, McKaela Ryan (Oakfield varsity basketball seniors), and Steven Gross, coach.
