Oakfield Man Arrested Following High-Speed Pursuit

In what has become an all too common occurrence, county authorities were involved in another high-speed pursuit, this time Monday evening.

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy was attempting a traffic stop on Hwy. 151 south, near Hwy. 175 in the Town of Fond du Lac, on a vehicle that was speeding.

As in previous pursuits, the Deputy activated lights and sirens, with the suspect vehicle increasing speeds and failing to pull over.

The suspect vehicle continued south on Highway 151, exiting at County Highway D, and continuing at speeds that topped nearly 108 mph, before heading into the Village of Oakfield.

The vehicle continued down numerous side streets in Oakfield before exiting the Village of Oakfield northbound on County Highway D. Sheriff’s Deputies were able to deploy tire deflation devices north of Oakfield on County highway D, which slowed the vehicle down, allowing Sheriff’s deputies to successfully box in the suspect’s vehicle bringing the pursuit to an end.

The driver was then taken into custody on the scene on County Highway D near Lost Arrow Road.

The driver was identified as a 28-year-old male from Oakfield. He is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail for operating while intoxicated and other charges from the pursuit.

The pursuit covered a distance of 11.8 miles

One Deputy was transported to a local hospital and released for minor injuries steaming from the pursuit. Two squad cars also received minor damage from the pursuit.
