Oakfield Oaks Win Division 5 Softball State Championship

The Oakfield Girls Softball team is State Champions again after claiming the Division Five title Monday afternoon in Green Bay.

The Oaks dominated Seneca in their state semifinal matchup Monday morning, holding the Indians to just one hit in a 10-0 victory in five innings. Alyssa Morell went 2-for-2 at the plate, while Sydney Newton drove in two runs for the Oaks.

Oakfield scored eight runs in the second inning to break the game open in the win that sent them to the State Championship game.

The Oaks would face the Hurley Northstars in the D-5 title game on Monday, after Hurley rallied late to knock off the second-seeded Pacelli in the other semifinal game of the day.

Oakfield fell behind 3-0 entering the home half of the second inning, before scoring two runs in the second, then pushing five runs across in the third to take the lead for good.

Taneal Tadman had three hits and scored two runs in the win for the Oaks, she was one of five batters who had a multi-hit game for Oakfield in the victory.

Oakfield wins their sixth State Championship in school history, and their first title since 2014 when they claimed the crown in Division Four.
