Oakfield Residents Requested To Run Tap Water

The Village of Oakfield is asking residents to run tap water to avoid frozen water pipes. The Village’s Utility Department is asking that tap water be run preferably from a faucet that runs hard water instead of soft, to keep water lines open. They says it doesn’t need to be done consistently through the day; only when water is not regularly being used. They say only a pencil-lead sized stream of water from one faucet needs to run to prevent freezing, but don’t let water drip. Quarterly billing will be adjusted so there will be no extra cost to village residents. Village officials say thawing pipes is a costly expense for them and they appreciate residents help in preventing more frozen lines. The measure is being taken due to extreme cold temperatures and low frost levels. For more information call the Village Office at 583-4400.  For more click here.
