Oakfield Woman Injured In Hit And Run

Update:

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is hoping the public will help them determine who was driving an SUV that struck and injured a 36-year-old Oakfield woman who was crossing the road in front of Schmitty’s Oar House. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the public has been responding to their plea for more information about Saturday night’s accident. He says they got several tips and they have several leads. He says they are trying to determine the make and the model of the SUV from pieces of the headlight assembly left behind at the scene. He says they are also looking at video surveillance from Schmitty’s and other systems in the area hoping to get a better look at the vehicle. He says the woman was treated and released from St. Agnes Hospital. He says witnesses told investigators she received more than a glancing blow from the SUV. He says when they saw her after she was struck she was flying through the air and she landed near the curb on Winnebago Drive. The SUV was light-colored, possibly gold or sliver-colored. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (920) 929-3390 or can call the tip line anonymously at (920) 906-4777.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run crash that left a 36-year-old Oakfield woman injured Saturday night. Sergeant Eric Halbach says it happened Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. in front of Schmitty’s Oar House Bar and Grill.  He says the woman was trying to cross the road on foot. A light colored, possibly gold or silver colored SUV turned east off Giese Drive onto Winnebago Drive and struck the woman. The vehicle then fled on Winnebago Drive and did not stop. Halbach says the woman was taken by ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac EMS took her to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and she was treated and later released. The woman was struck on the front passenger corner of the SUV, which as a result has a broken passenger side headlamp.
