Allen J. Kleinhans

Allen J. Kleinhans, 89, went to his heavenly home Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Maple Meadows Assisted Living in Fond du Lac. He was born on August 27, 1928 in West Bend, the son of the late Norman and Martha (Gales) Kleinhans. On November 16, 1949, Allen married Barbara Ann Kapfer in Greenview, SC. Barbara preceded him in death on July 6, 1994. Allen married Merle Tank on September 18, 1998 at Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac where they continue to be members and Allen was a member of the Men’s Club. He was raised in a German family and spoke only German until starting school and was a student of the German language all his life. Allen worked for Precision Metals in Campbellsport and Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac before retiring. He enjoyed hobby farming, square dancing, card club and traveling/camping especially the camping at Pelican Lake in Northern Wisconsin. Allen was also a great singer and had the opportunity to sing with Lawrence Welk Band on a number of occasions. 



Survivors include his wife Merle, his children Bruce (Karen Dilley) Kleinhans of Madison, Douglas (Mary) Kleinhans of Cedar Grove, Bruce (Kathy) Kleinhans of Campbellsport and Connie (Edward Zuelke) Kleinhans, grandchildren Jean Kleinhans, Daniel Kleinhans, Kathryn (Evan) Feedar , Amanda (Sean) Osborne and John Kleinhans, great grandchildren Declan, Nora and Donavan, step children Ron (Maryann) Tank, David (Vickie) Tank, Rick (Kathy) Tank and Lori (Ken) Werth, numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.



A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 15th at 5:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent St. Fond du Lac. Rev. Phillip Enderle will officiate and burial will be Thursday, August 16th at 11:00 AM in St. Matthews Cemetery, Campbellsport. 



Visitation will be Wednesday, August 15th from 3:00 PM until time of service at Hope Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research in Allen’s name.
