Alma E. Woodruff

Alma E. Woodruff, 91, a resident of the Woodlands for the past 2 ½ years, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She was born February 15, 1922, in North Fond du Lac, the daughter of Herman and Emma Hagenau Beaster. A lifelong resident of the Fond du Lac area, she graduated from North Fond du Lac High School. On August 25, 1945, she married W. Clark Woodruff. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1998. Alma was an avid bowler in her younger years, and won many trophies. She enjoyed playing cards, being with family and friends, watching the Brewers, and traveling with her husband. She was a member of Drier-Bushee-Vanderboom American Legion Post #156 of North Fond du Lac for over 50 years, and included service as an officer and historian.

            Surviving are three daughters, Carol (Ed) Steinbarth of Fond du Lac, Wendy (Stuart) MacPherson of Pickerel, WI, and Nancy (Jim) Kuitert of Fond du Lac, two sons, James “Skip” (Lynn) Woodruff and Richard (Theresa) Woodruff, both of Fond du Lac, eight grandchildren, LeAnn (Curt) DeRemer, John (Janelle) Thornton, Michaele

Smith, Lisa (John) Morici, Sean (Katrina) MacPherson, B.J. (Miranda) Fuller, Katie Kuitert, and Jacey Woodruff, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She is further survived by a sister, Della Wischnefski of Fond du Lac, a sister-in-law, Margaret Beaster of North Fond du Lac, a brother-in-law, Clifford Becker, also of North Fond du Lac. She is further survived by three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Jennifer Thornton, two sons-in-law, William J. Fuller, and Richard Thornton, a sister, Joyce Becker, and five brothers, Oscar, Lindor, Ervin, Earl, and Melvin Beaster.

            Visitation for Alma E. Woodruff will be on Monday, April 8, 2013, from 9:30 to 11 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 AM at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Rosenberg will officiate and burial will follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Alma’s name.
