Alphonse A. Schneider

     Alphonse A. Schneider, a resident of the
Villa Loretto, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2015.

     He was born the son of Matthew J. and Rosa
(Freund) Schneider on December 24, 1922 in St. Peter, Township of Taycheedah.  He married Shirley Ann Sabel in St. Peter Church
on October 27, 1948 by Fr. Kastner.  He
was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter and of the Holy Name Society.  Alphonse was a 3rd degree lifetime
member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the St. Peter’s Lions,
American Legion Post 0454, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
St. Peter Athletic Club and the Fisherman’s Road Fishing Club.

     Alphonse served in WWII in the Infantry
Division as a sergeant from 1943 to 1946. 
He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s badge and Bronze Star for heroic
service in battle.

     Alphonse owned and operated Silica
Hardware from 1951 until his retirement in 1992.  He enjoyed serving people, always saying
“service is our most important product”. 
He won many sales awards while in business with his wife and
family.  Alphonse, with his wife Shirley,
did a lot of traveling in Europe and many other continents, especially week
long bus trips in the U.S.
& Mexico
as well. Throughout his life, his most enjoyable pastime was spent entertaining
everyone, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, by playing the
harmonica.

          He is survived by his eight children:
Robert (Mary) of Green Lake, Kenneth (Joyce) of Johnsburg, Joseph (Mary) of
Malone, Gerald (Shelly) of Fond du Lac, Dennis
(Debbie) of Fond du Lac, Mary Ellen (Butch)
Wagner of Malone, John (Jean) of Malone, and Thomas (Cindy) of Fond du Lac
He was the proud grandfather of 25 grandchildren and 35
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Roman (Marcie) Schneider
and sister-in-law, Virginia Schneider; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
many friends.

     He is preceded in death by his lovely wife
Shirley, his parents, four brothers, Bernard (Marion) Schneider, Orlando (Rita) Schneider,
Adolph Schneider, Roger (Marilyn) Schneider, five sisters, Crescentia (Gilbert)
Schmitz, Helena (Paul) Giebel, Dorothy (Alex) Hefter, Loretta (Fred) Zwicky, Imelda
(Edward) Nett and sister-in-law, Athaline Schneider.

Visitation:
The family will receive relatives and friends at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, on Sunday May 31, 2015 from
3:00PM until 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation on Monday June 1, 2015 at
St. Peter Catholic Church in the Village
of St. Peter
from 9:00 AM
until 10:45 AM.

Service: At
11:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Peter Catholic
Church. Burial will follow in St.
Peter Cemetery
.

his name are preferred and may be directed to the Villa Loretto, Holy Family
Parish or Agnesian Health Care Hospice.
