Althea Marks

Althea Marks, died Thursday, April 21, 2022; she was almost 101.  

Althea was born Althea Marie Lierman, to Edward and Ida Plotz Lierman, on April 27, 1921 on a farm outside of Winneconne.  She graduated from Winneconne High School in 1939. Althea married Merlin E. Marks on June 29, 1940.  She worked at a mental health rehabilitation center, now called Harbor Haven, for 20 years.  In her later years, she belonged to the Home Maker Group of Oakfield.  Althea was a life-long reader and collected cookbooks.  She also loved crocheting, and knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She knit scarves for needy children, until the day she died. She enjoyed traveling, including a special trip with her Aunt Helen to Germany and France.

She is survived by her two children: Myrna Lehman (friend Jim Freiberg) and Randy (Terese) Marks; son-in-law Michael J. Harrison, six grandchildren: Michael S. (Candace) Harrison, Tedd (Becky) Lehman, Jeff (Deanna) Lehman, Julie (Mike) Franke, Renee (Jeremy) Haversack and Steve Marks; 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Bernice Strutz, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Sandra Harrison, and brother Harold Lierman.

VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 12:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Memorial Baptist Church, 645 Forest Avenue, Fond du Lac.

SERVICE: Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Memorial Baptist Church, with Rev. Denise Kagoro officiating.  Burial will follow at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
