Ambrose A. Lisowe, Sr.

Ambrose A. Lisowe, Sr., age 95, of Marytown, died at his home on January 7, 2022. He was born April 16, 1926, in Brothertown, WI, son of the late Leo and Irene (Simon) Lisowe. On February 8, 1950, he married Lorna Stecker and together they had ten children.

Ambrose was an ambitious man and worked very hard his entire life. He joined the United States Army and returned to start his life as a farmer. He said his happiest place on Earth was on his tractor; he still owns the first new tractor he bought in 1950, and he drove his little Ford tractor for the last time raking hay just last summer. He extended his work beyond his farm as a  trucker for Jolly Green Giant, selling and trucking hay and straw, dealing seeds for over 35 years, and logging, hauling, and selling firewood for over 45 years. He unloaded firewood at 95 years old in December. Ambrose even found time to volunteer hauling water for the Calumet Fire Department before they had water trucks.

When Ambrose wasn’t working, he loved playing Sheephead and managed to get some games in two days before he passed. He and Lorna liked playing cards in card clubs and bowling in leagues. He was a member of the Marytown Veterans and the New Holstein American Legion.

Ambrose is survived by his children: James (Marsha) Lisowe, Don (Karen )Lisowe, Jerry (Alice) Lisowe, Karen Mae (Duane) Heller, Rosemary Smith, Charles (Annette) Lisowe, Mariann (Rod) Uttecht, Marilyn Lisowe, Ambrose (Pamela) Lisowe, Jr., Joseph (Roseann) Lisowe; 34 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way; sister: Mary (Dave) Heller; and sisters-in-law: Lucille Lisowe and Marilyn Stache.
