Ambrose M. Koenigs

Ambrose M. Koenigs, 97,
formerly of Malone/Johnsburg, passed into the hands of his Almighty Father on
Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, with his family at
his side.

 

On September 14, 1919, he was
born to Joseph and Mary Diedrich Koenigs.

           

He married Dorothy Lefeber on
October 20, 1941, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac
In October of 2016, they celebrated 75 years of marriage.

 

Ambrose and his wife farmed
in the Johnsburg area most of their lives. 
He worked various jobs in his early years, but farming was his life-long
ambition.

 

He was a life-long member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, a
volunteer for the Calumet Fire Department, and a frequent volunteer for Loaves
& Fishes.  He was an active
participant with the Pipe Senior Citizens Group, serving as president for many
years.  He enjoyed playing cards,
visiting friends, attending sports events, and gambling.

 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy;
a daughter, Jeanne (Gerald) Janiak of Fond du Lac; a son, Joseph (Sandy) Koenigs of
Franklin; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and
four sisters-in-law:  Dorothy (Richard)
Koenigs, Lois (Raymond) Koenigs, Betty (Francis) Koenigs, and Elaine (Harold)
Lefeber.

 

He was preceded in death by
his parents; a daughter, Marianne Stephany; a son-in-law, Michael Stephany; a
granddaughter, Annette Lunn; a grandson, Todd Stephany; two sisters:  Marie Gau and Esther Wollersheim; two
brothers:  Richard and Raymond; and
brothers-in-law.

 

VISITATION:  The visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at St.
John
the Baptist Catholic Church, N9288 Hwy W,
Johnsburg.

 

SERVICE:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at church with Fr. Gary Wegner officiating. Cremation
will follow the traditional service.

 

The family wishes to thank
the staff of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home and Marquardt Hospice for the
excellent care given to Ambrose during his time in their care.
