Armella O. Zahn

Armella O. Zahn, 81, of Campbellsport went to her heavenly home on Tuesday April 24, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. She was born on Sept. 7, 1932 in the Town of Ashford the daughter of the late Alphonse and Stella (nee Weis) Schrauth. On Oct. 16, 1954, Armella married Arthur Zahn at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. 

They owned and operated a Standard Oil franchise in Milwaukee for 10 years. In 1972 Armella and Art started Zahn’s Trading Post in New Prospect which the family still operates. She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church and formerly St. Mathias Catholic Church. Armella was Director of Religious Education at St. Mathias for 14 years and taught CCD for 24 years. Art and Armella donated the organ at St. Mathias Church. In Milwaukee she was active in the Christian Mothers at St. Bernadette’s Church. She was a founder and first president of the Cougar Club and a Girl Scout and 4H leader. Armella and Art were supportive of area sportsman clubs through donations. Armella loved to cook, her flowers, and attending mass. She also had a great love of people and had a great sense of humor. Most of all Armella loved her family; her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Survivors include her daughter Mary (Joseph) Straub of Campbellsport, her sons James Arthur Zahn Campbellsport and Steven Michael (Kari) Zahn of West St. Paul, MN, her grandchildren Jason (Joleen) Straub, Jacqueline Straub, Jeremy Straub, Emma Hartigan, Nathan Zahn, Henry Zahn and Cecilia Zahn, her great grandchildren Jazmine, Jordan and Jayden, her sister Madonna Jensen of Pelican Lake, her sister-in-law Joann Schrauth of Fond du Lac, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Armella was preceded in death by her husband Art on April 24, 2012, her granddaughter Crystal Straub, her sister Anna Mae Grede, her brothers Gregor and Hilary Schrauth and her brothers-in-law Richard Grede and Carl Jensen. 

Visitation will be Tuesday May 13th at St. Matthew’s Church, 406 E. Main St. Campbellsport, from 4:00 PM until time of Mass. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 PM at St. Matthew’s Church in Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mathias Cemetery in the Town of Auburn.
