Arnold D. Albertz

Arnold D. “Arnie” Albertz, 77, of Fond du Lac, died unexpectedly at his home, Saturday, April 9, 2022. He was born in Fond du Lac on October 9, 1944, to Arnold and Betty (McArthur) Albertz. Arnie married the love of his life Carol Pickart Hamm, on October 22, 2005, in Fond du Lac.

Arnie’s first job was with Mercury Marine. He was then employed as a conductor with the Soo Line Railroad for 18 years and served proudly as a union representative. Arnie retired from Bemis Flexible Packaging at age 62, after 15 years.

Arnie was also an entrepreneur and started up and ran 3 businesses in his lifetime. They included a videotaping business called Creative Visions, a sports card business and designing and selling bumper stickers on the internet. Arnie was affiliated with the group, United for Diversity and was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party. He was an avid supporter of human rights and outspoken against social injustice in all its many forms. Arnie attended countless political rallies and protests in support of his beliefs. Arnie was proud and grateful to have had 40 years of sobriety and was very active in the recovering community.

Arnie loved getting together with a group of friends he called the “Gang of Five” at Schmitty’s Oarhouse Bar and Grill, as well as playing poker with friends on Friday nights. He was a great sports fan and loved the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

Arnie is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Matthew Albertz, Anthony (Janelle) Albertz, James Albertz, all of Fond du Lac, Maggie (Peter) Sventek of Minnesota, Shannon Patterson of Texas, Sarah Halstead of Illinois and Joshua (Stephanie) Hamm of West Bend; twelve grandchildren, Hannah (Joe), Jake, Mitchell, Madalynn, Andi, Thor, Bryce, Evan, Alannah, Scarlet, Roo, and Scarlett; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Peter “Pistol” Albertz; and one grandson, Lucas Albertz.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 6:00 PM. Cremation has taken place.
