Barbara A. Fuhrman

Barbara A. Fuhrman, 91, of Fond du Lac, was lifted into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at St. Francis Terrace.  She was born July 2, 1929 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Risch) Rodenkirk.  On June 30, 1951 she married Peter J. Fuhrman, Jr. in Wilmette, IL and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2008.  Barbara worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1991.  She was a former member of the Mission Club in Wilmette, IL supporting missionaries around the globe.  She was a current member of Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church.  Barbara volunteered for Agnesian Healthcare doing blood pressure checks and working the coffee cart for several years. 

Barbara was a dedicated wife and mother.  She instilled a faith in God in her children and was both tender and firm.  She shared her love of board games, card games and jigsaw puzzles with her family.  She loved reading and Cryptoquizzes. Her artistic talents came through in her sewing, knitting, decorating and painting. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the world after his retirement and winters in Arizona for several years.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was known for sharing their “sweet meats”.  Everyone asked for Barb’s famous potato salad.  Barbara was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and especially her great grandchildren.  She was a very nurturing and compassionate women, always being referred to as a sweet lady.

She is survived by her children, Peter III (Pamela) Fuhrman of Bellingham, MA, Catherine (James) Wolfe of Fond du Lac, James (Ann) Fuhrman of Bellingham, MA, and Susan Benoit of Whiting, VT; grandchildren, Patrick (Kathryn) Fuhrman, Elizabeth (Matthew) McNeil, Andrew (partner, Samantha) Fuhrman, David Fuhrman, Christopher Fuhrman, Michael Fuhrman, Caryn (partner, Elin) Drake, and Joshua (partner, Jess) Benoit; great granddaughters, Olivia and Isla Drake, Emma and Charlotte Fuhrman, and Lily Ann McNeil; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Peter Sr. (Percy) Fuhrman; grandson, Michael Wolfe; an infant brother, James; brother, Robert Rodenkirk; sister-in-law Joan Rodenkirk, sister-in-law, Margaret Guenveur, and brother-in-law Dr Paul Guenveur.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac.  The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at church on Tuesday.  The Mass will be livestreamed via Holy Family Catholic Community Fond du Lac Facebook page.  Due to Emergency Order #1 under Executive Order #82, masks are required while in attendance.  Burial will be held in St. Charles Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agnesian Hospice Hope, Michael J Wolfe Scholarship Fund at the FDL Area Foundation, Holy Family Catholic Community or the American Diabetes Association.
