Ben J. Majeska

Ben J. Majeska, Jr., 99, a
resident of Fond du Lac, passed away February 6, 2017 at the Hospice Home of
Hope.

 

He was born August 1, 1917 in
Fond du Lac, a son of the late Ben Sr. and Ella Gessert Majeska.

 

On August 24, 1949 he married
Jane R. Costello at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac.

 

Ben was a graduate of Fond du
Lac Senior High School in 1936. He served the United States Army during WWII in
North Africa and the European Theaters from 1942-1945. Ben retired from the
Damrow Company after 40 years in sales and service. He was a member of Holy
Family Parish, St. Joseph’s, was an active volunteer with St. Agnes Hospital
and a member of the Y.M.C.A. Ben enjoyed playing golf, reading, working on
crossword puzzles, playing cards and going to the Y.M.C.A.

 

Survivors include his wife
Jane, two sons, James Majeska and John D. Majeska of Fond du Lac, two
daughters, Ann (Steve) O’Connell of Milwaukee, and Barbara (Don) Becker of
Elkhorn, WI; eight grandchildren, Erin and Sarah O’Connell, Eric Becker, Emily (Jeremy)
Jones, Michelle (Ben) Jepson, Anna (Danny) Dunbar and Hannah and Ben Majeska;
nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 

He is further survived by
three brothers-in-law, George (Helen) Costello, Peter (Loretta) Costello and
Fr. Timon Costello, Cap.; four sisters-in-law, Doris Busha, Ellen Ericksen,
Marion Costello and Sr. Ruth Mary Costello.

 

He was preceded in death by
his parents; one granddaughter, infant Olivia Majeska; two brothers, Robert and
Kenneth Majeska; three sisters-in-law, Rosemary Majeska, Mary Koenigs and Mary
Lou Costello; three brothers-in-law, Dr. Addis Costello, Joseph Busha and
Patrick Costello.

 

Visitation will be held at
the Zacherl Funeral Home on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Visitation will also be on Saturday, February
11, at Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue in Fond du Lac from 9:00 AM to
10:45 AM.

 

Service:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish,
200 S. Peters Ave. The Rev. Patrick Heppe and Fr. Werner Wolf, OFM Cap.will
officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

 

Memorials in his name may be
directed to Holy Family Stained Glass Window fund, the Y.M.C.A., Agnesian
Hospice Hope or to the St. Mary’s Springs High School.
