Bennett J. Rentmeister

Bennett “Ben” J. Rentmeister,
81, of Fond du Lac, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Hospice Home of Hope in
Fond du Lac.

 

He was born on November 29,
1935, on the family farm in DePere, the son of Joseph and Grace Phillips
Rentmeister. Bennett proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as a military
police office. He married Magdalena “Peggy” Gunther on November 13, 1959, in
Worms, Germany.

 

Bennett was employed by Soo
Line Wisconsin Central railroad for over 25 years. He was a long-time member of
Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac serving on various committees,
the church council and as an usher. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #270,
the Van Dyne Sportsman’s Club and the Lomira American Legion. Bennett enjoyed
hunting, bowling, snowmobiling and playing dart ball at the American Legion
Hall and Eagle’s Club.

 

Survivors include his wife of
57 years, Magdalena “Peggy”, his son: Horst (Chris) Rentmeister of Ripon, a
granddaughter: Carrie Arthurs of Fond du Lac, three great-grandsons: Landon, Brody
and Cole Arthurs, a brother: Burton “Bill” Rentmeister of Fond du Lac, two
brothers-in-law: Bruno (Helga) Setzer of Worms, Germany and George Hackbarth of
Fond du Lac, a special niece: Cindy and her husband, Dave, other nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.

 

VISITATION: Bennett’s family
will greet relatives and friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3,
2017, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du
Lac.

 

SERVICE: A memorial service
for Bennett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Immanuel-Trinity
Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Meyer officiating.

 

Cremation has taken place.
Inurnment will be in Veteran’s Cremation Garden, Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond
du Lac.
