Bernice E. Mielke
Bernice E. Mielke, 89, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services, Fond du Lac.
She was born on September 26, 1924, in the Town of Springvale, Columbia County, a daughter of Otto and Lena Holmes Zunker.
Bernice was a graduate of Rio High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Portage.
On June 21, 1947, she married Floyd H. Mielke in Pardeeville, Wisconsin. Bernice supported her husband, Floyd, by doing all his bookkeeping for the family business, F.H. Mielke Cabinet Supply.
Bernice was a charter member of Luther Memorial Church, Fond du Lac. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by four sons: Wayne (Sandy) Mielke of Eau Claire, Eugene Mielke of Fond du Lac, Larry (Jill) Mielke of Fond du Lac, and Lloyd (Rosemary) Mielke of Crystal, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Steven (Amy) Mielke, Bethany (Adam) Gamble, Daniel (Alisha) Mielke, Richard Mielke, Joseph Mielke, Jennifer Mielke, and Scott Mielke; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Zunker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd, on May 2, 2012; her siblings: Hildred Zunker, Albert (Erma) Zunker, Elmer (Vera) Zunker, Royal (Thelma) Zunker, Mildred Zunker, Ambrose Zunker, Loretta Zunker, Louise Zunker, Harold (Doris) Zunker, Wallace (Isabelle) Zunker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bernard (Helen) Mielke, Eleanor (Raymond) Lemke, Viola (Alfred) Dretske, and LaVerne (George) Pollesch.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Luther Memorial Church, 134 21st Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Neal Radichel officiating. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Sunday at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
