Bernita M. Schroven

Bernita M. “Nita” (Diederich) Schroven ,90, passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones at Kimberly Assisted Living in Kimberly, WI.  Bernita was a native and long-time resident of Stockbridge.  She married Norbert J. Schroven, also of Stockbridge, in 1945. She worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service.  Bernita was a devoted Catholic and a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Stockbridge, as well as a member of the Christian Mothers Society.  She lived a full life, surrounded by family and friends and was ready to go to her eternal life.


Bernita was very family-oriented and was known to contribute significantly in the lives of her relatives and their families. People enjoyed coming to Bernita’s house because of her kind and caring nature. She was a very good homemaker and her guests say you could have eaten off her floor. She also took pride in her appearance, always having her hair, nails, and make-up done – even just to take out the trash. Bernita also enjoyed gardening and spending her winters as a snow-bird traveling with Norbert to Florida.


Bernita is preceeded in death by her parents Anna (Mortell) and Peter Diederich, and her beloved husband, Norbert J. Schroven.  She was also preceeded in death by the following family: her sister, Ruth (Diederich) Sell; brothers, William and Jerold Diederich; mother-in-law, Anna (Hemauer) Schroven; brothers-in-law, Earl Sell and John Schroven; sisters-in-law ,Charlotte (Ricker) Diederich and Sylvia “Tootie” (Goeser) Schroven; nephew, John Diederich; nephew-in-law, Thomas Kennedy; and great-nieces, Sherry Schoen and Pamela Reichwald.


Bernita is survived by: her daughter, Kay A. Schroven of Minneapolis, MN; nieces, Karen (Charles) Ott, Donna (Gib) Schoen, Diana (David) Barnett, Lori Diederich, Theresa (Duane) Rohm, Jeanne (Timothy) Borneman, Carol Schroven, and Patricia Kennedy; nephews, Jerry Diederich, Joseph Diederich, Richard (Kim) Sell, and Ted (Shirley) Sell; and many beloved great-nieces, great-nephews and their families.


Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 12:00 pm at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockbridge (120 Davis St.). Friends may call at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 10:00 am until 11:45 am on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
