Betty Jane Mielke

Betty Jane Mielke, 82, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at home.

 

She was born on August 31, 1930, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Raymond and Bernett May Rohde.  Betty Jane graduated from Goodrich Senior High School in 1948.

 

On September 17, 1949, she married Niles M. Mielke at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John H. Becker officiating.

 

Betty was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church.

 

Betty was an indomitable spirit.  Despite her handicap as a result of polio, she never gave into self-pity.  She found unconventional ways for accomplishing everyday tasks making the most of her abilities.  She is now with her loving husband, Niles.

 

She is survived by two children:  Susan (Phil) Midland of Earlysville, Virginia and Rick (Carol) Mielke of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren:  Brett Mielke, Daniel Mielke, Julia Midland, and Douglas Midland; a sister-in-law, Rita Rohde; and two brothers-in-law: Gerald (Rita) Mielke, and Florian Zimdars.  She is further survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Niles; a brother, William Rohde; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Zimdars.

 

The funeral service and entombment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, in Ledgeview Memorial Park, N6250 County Trunk K, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Shari Routh officiating .

 

The visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Saturday at the mausoleum  from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church Accessibility Fund or the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the eradication of polio at www.gatesfoundation.org
