Brian D. Schingen
Brian D. Schingen, 64, of Fond du Lac, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 2, 2023. He was born March 13, 1958 to Gordy and Marcia (Beyer) Schingen.
Brian graduated from Goodrich High School in 1976. He spent his early years, working as a cook at Walgreens restaurant in the Forest Mall and was the Manager of Wendy’s restaurant.
During the 80’s and 90’s Brian could be seen jogging around town and riding his bike. His passion for fitness lead him into the health club business where he managed Total Fitness and Body Masters for a number of years. Brian loved working with people, hearing and sharing stories.
He spent the last 28 years working at Quad Graphics. Brian had a great work ethic, frequently picking up extra shifts and helping out where needed. He loved working at Quad and the relationships he built over the years. Brian’s upcoming retirement was a difficult decision because he knew he would miss his friends.
Brian was looking forward to retiring and spending the summer days on his boat.
He loved summer, riding his motorcycle and cruising in his corvette with the top down. He enjoyed spending time soaking up the sun relaxing in his pool.
Brian took pride in taking care of his Bachelor Pad and yard. His home was well known for the many hibiscus plants that lined the driveway, the red geraniums that hung from every awning and birdhouses from every tree branch.
He was a great neighbor to have, as he could be seen snow blowing the neighbors’ sidewalks and cutting their grass.
He enjoyed regular visits with his dad, bringing him donuts and a banana from Kwik Trip while he picked up his daily cup of coffee.
Brian was a warm, fun-loving, compassionate man. He was a big teddy bear, always greeting you with a hug or flowers and telling a joke or two. He enjoyed a good buffet and a Diet Pepsi! We’re going to miss you brother!
Brian is survived by his father, Gordy Schingen, siblings Dan (Mary) Schingen, Brad Schingen, Amy Schingen (Tom Wild), niece Ellie Schingen, many cousins, other relatives and friends. Brian was preceded in death by his mother.
SERVICES: Brian’s family invites relatives and friends to Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, for a memorial service on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
Brian will be missed by many. Those who would like to honor him with a memorial contribution are asked contribute to the Friends of Lakeside Park, 15 5th Street Fond du Lac, WI 54935. Brian enjoyed spending time at Lakeside Park and considered it “his backyard.”
