Bruno B. Kraus

Bruno B. Kraus, 95, died Friday, June 22, 2018 at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. He was born in St. Peter on February 1, 1923, a son of John and Elizabeth (Schneider) Kraus. On April 30, 1947, he married Elvira Buechel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho. She preceded him in death on August 26, 1988. On May 3, 1991, Bruno married Lillian Wagner at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter.

Bruno was blessed to have been surrounded by such a large family, spending as much time with them as possible. For eighteen years, he worked in the warehouse for Zinke’s Wholesale Foods in Fond du Lac. Following his time at Zinke’s, Bruno worked in both the heating & maintenance departments at the Taycheedah Correctional Facility, retiring after twenty-two years. He took many vocational courses; woodworking, tool repair, etc., and was known for his ability to fix anything. Bruno enjoyed big band dancing and singing in the St. Peter Funeral Choir. He was a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac County.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; a son, Jerry (Barbara) Kraus; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Donald) Schneider; twelve step-children, Anna (Terry) Reitz, Joe (Grace) Wagner, Ken Wagner, Julie Kohlman, Bill (Jill) Wagner, Debbie (Randy) Freund, Rick (Brenda) Wagner, Laurie (Ron) Meyer, Mark (Tess) Wagner, Terry (Mary) Wagner and Melissa (Scott) Muche; seven grandchildren, Jake, Tom, Katy, Peter, Christopher, Bridgete and Jennifer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Martin (Jane) Kraus; and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kraus and Mary Kraus.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elvira; his parents, John and Elizabeth; a son, Bill Kraus; sister, Esther (Mel) Halbach; and three brothers, Gregory (Catherine) Kraus, Leander Kraus and Edward Kraus.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Community, St. Peter Catholic Church, N8079 Church Rd. in Malone. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 AM with burial in St. Peter Parish Cemetery to follow the services.
