Carl M. Serwe

Carl M. Serwe, 49, of Chilton, died Saturday, September 8, 2018 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident along with his girlfriend, Darci Lu Atkins. He was born January 16, 1969 in Fond du Lac, the son of Cyril and Patricia Comins Serwe. Carl graduated from Campbellsport High School Class of 1987.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1987 – 1991, as an aviation mechanic and plane captain aboard the USS Carl Vincent. He received several awards, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and National Defense Service Medal. On August 8, 1992 he married Kristi M. Miritz in Taylor Falls, MN. Carl owned and operated Carl Serwe Roofing.

He was an active member of Connections Community Church in New Holstein, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Rifle Association, and Disabled American Veterans. He shared his talents with Toolbox ministry through his church. Carl was very talented and creative and could fix everything. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed the outdoors, motorcycling, boating, camping, taking care of his land, 4-wheeling, and was a collector of anything and everything. He had a positive outlook and always saw the best in the worst situations. His laugh, selflessness, and work ethic will be greatly missed. Above all else he loved and cherished his girls and spending time with them.

He is survived by his two daughters, Alyssa (Brent Plate) Serwe of Fond du Lac and Carly Serwe of Fond du Lac; his father, Cyril Serwe of Campbellsport; seven siblings, Catherine “Kitty” (Daniel) Miller of Brandon, Carol (James) Ninnemann of Campbellsport, Christina (Dean) Bohlman of Eden, Charles (Robin) Serwe of Tomahawk, Clifford (Claudia) Serwe of Glen Allen, VA, Susan (Timothy) Sippel of Fond du Lac, and Sylvester Serwe of Eden; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Serwe; maternal grandparents, Roland “Smokey” and Dorothy Comins; and paternal grandparents, Mathias and Frances Serwe.

The visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Martell officiating.

Family and friends take comfort in knowing his selflessness continued in his death by donating tissue and his corneas. Also that he is reunited with his mother and grandparents in Heaven. We imagine he already has plans to remodel Heaven’s Gate.

In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for his daughters.
