Carol M. Leu

Carol
M. Leu passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Hospice Home of Hope
surrounded by the love of her family and friends.  She was born the
youngest of six children in Fond du Lac on March 11,1946 to the late Leonard
and Irene (Lamb) Miller.  She graduated from L. P. Goodrich High School in
1964 and married her true love, Thomas Leu on April 1, 1967, at Immanuel
Trinity Lutheran church.

Carol spent her life in the loving service of her family and friends,
understanding that real happiness came from nurturing relationships and sharing
her heart.

Along the way she developed many talents and hobbies which naturally served as
ways to connect with others.  She became quite a gourmet, and will be
remembered for many signature dishes including her German potato salad and
rhubarb pie.  Thanksgiving at the Leu house became a lavish tradition with
Carol’s epic meal and her playful ‘gobble, gobble, gobble’ welcoming all lucky
enough to join.  Another gift Carol shared was her skill as a hairdresser.
Whether it was a wedding coiffure or a simple haircut, she delighted in
making people look marvelous and feel good about themselves while spending time
with them.  In addition to cuisine and cosmetology, Carol enjoyed bowling
with her girlfriends in league at Karl Ray Lanes in Fond du Lac for over twenty
years, where she especially looked forward to the lively tournament road trips.
Volleyball and golf were also entertaining pastimes for Carol.  Perhaps
surprisingly, it was actually Carol who inspired her husband Tom to take up
golfing.

Carol’s greatest passion, besides adoring her grandchildren, was her sewing.
Especially later in life, she could always be found deep within her
sewing room, maybe altering a dress or attaching some buttons, but most likely
she was creating an elaborate quilt design or possibly a new purse.  Her
quilt club of many years, Sunset Stitchers, was the perfect venue for her to
hone her craft, surrounded by dozens of complementary artists, each sharing
their different styles and techniques.  Now each one of those beautiful
creations she produced will become part of the amazing legacy she leaves
behind.

Carol M. Leu was a kind soul who brought warmth and happiness to all who knew
her.  She would want us to continue to walk in her footsteps, loving
others and being true to ourselves.

Carol is survived by her husband Thomas; two children, Angela (Antonio Metallo)
Leu of Fond du Lac, WI and Joel (Elizabeth) Leu of San Francisco, CA; four
grandchildren, Margaret Leu, Charles Leu, Eloisa Metallo, and Bruno Metallo;
three siblings, Linda Fritz, Eugene (Janet) Miller and Harold (Margaret)
Miller; sister-in-law Mary Leu, all of Fond du Lac, WI; four nieces, Zoe Leu,
Phoebe Leu, Kim Miller Janke Miller and Tammy Miller; and four nephews, Jamie
Fritz, Mike Fritz, Bret Miller and Kevin Miller and their families, along with
many friends.

She
was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Irene (Lamb) Miller, brothers
Richard Miller and Robert Miller, mother-in-law Evelyn Leu, brothers-in-law
Ronald Leu and Donald Fritz, dear family friend Susan Lopau, and her lifelong
companion, Annie Donohue.
