Catherine M. Fields

Catherine “Cathy” M. Fields, 95, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born January 18, 1927 to Albert and Pluma (Bonnell) Gross in Fond du Lac. On August 25, 1945 Cathy married Raymond Fields at St. Mary Rectory, by the Rev. Raymond Fox.

Cathy worked for Well’s Manufacturing for 31 years and was a former president of the local 646 UAW. She was an International Representative of the United Auto Workers Region 10 UAW out of Detroit, MI and served on the Board of Directors for Well’s Employee Credit Union for 35 years. Cathy was a member of Holy Family Parish St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include: three children, Susan (Harvey) Lemke Jr. of Fond du Lac, Mark (Nancy L.) Fields of Taycheedah and Debra (Dave) LaVine of Laughlin, NV; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Deanna) Lemke, Christy (Dave) Hoffman, Sherry (Rick) Burns, Matthew (Darcy Johnson) Fields, Ashley (Randy) Geasland, Whitney (Jeff) Evans, and Katey (Ty Schrock) Fields; 15 great grandchildren, Marisa, Josh, Jordan, Emma, Christopher, Autumn, Andrew (Briana), Cassandra (TJ), Candace (Jake), Michael, Mason, Jaden, Jack, Dawson, and Trevor and five great-great grandchildren, Aspen, Jasper, Kashton, Emma, and Macy. She is further survived by many special nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

Cathy was preceded in death by her loving husband Ray and her parents; four brothers, Daniel (Alta), Robert (Beverly), Albert (Jean), and Don Gross; her sisters Jane O’Connor and Pluma (Donald) Kenyon and brother-in-law Don (Judy) Fields.

VISITATION: Cathy’s family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 4th Street Way., Fond du Lac, from 9:00 to 9:45 AM.

SERVICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Cathy’s name.

Cathy’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Hospice Home of Hope for their loving care.
