Claude G. Kampfer

Claude George Kampfer, age 87, of Chilton, died surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.  He was born August 27, 1929 in Chilton son of the late Nicholas & Veronica (Joas) Kampfer.



He married Joan G. McHugh on February 19, 1955 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Chilton; she preceded him in death on April 25, 2004.



Early in his life, Claude heard Freedom’s Call and volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army.  During his working life, Claude had worked throughout the area, most notably Carnation Company and Foley Company in Chilton until his retirement at the age of 62.



He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and had devoted his life to the benefit and well being of those he loved most dearly.  Those that knew him will fondly remember him for his devotion to his family and friends and his gracious and friendly demeanor exhibited to all he met.



Survivors include his children: Kathryn (Joe) Tasch, Mary Kampfer, Ruth Kampfer & her special friend, Chuck McDonnell, Mike Kampfer, Joe Kampfer; 5 grandchildren: Richard (Robin) Snelson, Stephanie Snelson, Kerry (Mike) Korrer, Kelly (Adam) Nieft, Kyle (Anna) Tasch; his great grandchildren: Charlie Nieft with two more arriving soon; his sisters: Lucille Cole, Florence (Joe) Schlaefer; and a brother-in-law: Dennis McHugh.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  



Claude was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; Joan; 2 sons: John & Kenneth; 2 brothers: Jerome (Delores) Kampfer, Franklin Kampfer; a brother-in-law: Gerald Cole and 2 sisters-in-law: Margo & Joan McHugh.



Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, August 14, 2017 when family prayers will be held.  



Claude’s family would like to thank the residents and staff of Century Ridge who have added years to Claude’s life and have added abundant life to those years.
