Darlene A. Drehmel

Darlene A. Drehmel, 79, of Wild Rose, formerly of Fond du Lac, died January 10, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital, Madison. 

She was born on January 24, 1934, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Benjamin Peter and Marguarite Evelyn (nee Voyacy) Walker.  

Darlene was baptized by John H. Becker on February 18, 1934, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.  She attended St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran School, Roosevelt Junior High School, and Goodrich Senior High School.

She worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Company until her marriage to Rudolph Lester Drehmel on October 17, 1953, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Loren Buelow.  Following their marriage, they joined Church of Our Savior, where her husband was already a member, and she began teaching Sunday School.  They moved to Wild Rose, Waushara County, in October 1990.  She joined the Wild Rose Baptist Church and was baptized on March 22, 1992.  She worked as the church treasurer for 10 years and 7 months.

She is survived by three children: Jeff (Beverly) Drehmel of Van Dyne, Dennis (Joyce) Drehmel of Malone, Kim (Tom) Baumgartner of North Fond du Lac; grandchildren: Travis (Lisa), Tim (Leslie) Michelle Drehmel and fiancée Don Wells, Chad, Matt, and Tabitha Baumgartner; great-grandchildren: Landon, Kataya, Katelyn, Brooklyn, and Samuel; a brother, Kenneth (Geraldine) Walker; a sister, Betty (Eugene) Dewalte, and Shirley Schibline; and two sisters-in-law, Hiroe Walker and Diane Walker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph, on January 4, 2007; two brothers: Robert Walker and John Walker.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Trinity Baptist Church, 400 E. Johnson Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Dan Leeds officiating.  The visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E.
