Darrell L. Kelley

Darrell L.
Kelley, 83, of Fond du Lac, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Manor
Care Nursing Home after a brief time on hospice. Darrell had been lovingly
cared for by his devoted wife, Claudette, for the past two years. He was born
November 25, 1934 in Brocton, IL, the son of Thomas and Madeline (Fleetwood)
Kelley.


When in high
school, he was a caddy at one of the golf courses in Springfield, IL. When out
of high school he sold shoes at several shoe stores in Springfield. He also
sold life insurance in Springfield and eventually moved to Missouri where he
sold shoes for Gallenkamp Shoe Store.


Darrell
married his beloved wife, Claudette Maxwell on March 15, 1973 in Cape
Girardeau, MO. He moved to Fond du Lac in June of 1978 where he worked as
District Manager of Gallenkamp Shoes until they closed in 1986, then at Prange’s/Younkers
selling furniture until he retired in 1997. Darrell also worked part-time at
Murray Furniture.


Darrell was
an avid golfer and fisherman. He golfed at Rolling Meadows Golf Course and was
in a couple of leagues for several years.


Darrell is
survived by his wife, Claudette; children, Gene (Julie) Kelley of Urbandale,
IL, James (Brenda) Kelley of Neenah, WI, and Tina (Stephen) Niswonger of
Chaffee, MO; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is further
survived by his sister, Jackie (John) Stuemke, one sister-in-law, Frances
Burns, one brother-in-law, Robert Schwarberg, all of Springfield, IL, nieces,
nephews and friends.


Darrell was
preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and siblings Karen Schwarberg,
Steven (Billie) Burns, Donna Andrews and Jimmy Burns.


Visitation:
Darrell’s family welcomes relatives and friends for a time of visitation at
Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Saturday, January
27, 2018 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM.


Service: A
memorial service celebrating Darrell’s life will follow the visitation on
Saturday at the funeral home at 10:00 AM, Rev. Stephen Niswonger presiding.


A special
thank you is extended to neighbors and friends for all the help, compassion,
care and support to Darrell and Claudette the past two years and to Agnesian
Hospice Hope for the wonderful care given to Darrell.
