David A. Lyon

David A. Lyon, 72, of Waupun, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home.

 

David was born July 18, 1941 in Waupun the son of Maurice and Blanche Vande Berg Lyon.  Dave attended Waupun schools and graduated from Waupun High School in 1959.  From 1960 through 1964 he served his country for four years in the US Air Force.  Dave worked for Wisconsin Department of Corrections as a correctional officer in many of the local correctional facilities and Central State Hospital.  On June 30, 1978 he married Judy Erdman in Juneau.  The couple resided in Waupun most of their married lives.  Dave was a member of the National Rifle Association, Wisconsin Muzzle Loaders Association, Rock River Archeology, Juneau Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 210, and the World Atlatl Association.  Dave had many articles published in the Primitive Times and other magazines.

 

Dave is survived by his wife, Judy Lyon of Waupun; a brother, Gary (Jeanne) Lyon of West Bend; a niece, Kayla (Jay) Sommer of Howards Grove; a nephew, Jeff Lyon of Cottage Grove; and his beloved dog, Karma.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Bernie Schwalenberg; and a brother, Dennis at birth.

 

Funeral services for David Lyon will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun.  Friends and relatives of David Lyon may call on the family on Tuesday at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  American Legion Post 210 will provide the Honor Guard following the service.

 

The family suggests memorial be directed to the Waupun Animal Shelter or Search Dog Foundation.
