David H. Lemmenes

David Hull Lemmenes, 93, of Waupun, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2018 while residing at Marvin’s Manor in Waupun.

David was born June 8, 1925 in Waupun, WI, the son of Bert & Jennie Hull Lemmenes.  David met his wife of 65 years, Dorothy on a blind date.They were married on October 8, 1948 and farmed in the Waupun area. After retiring from farming in 1985, David worked as a sexton at Forest Mound Cemetery for 20 years. He enjoyed singing with Men of Praise. David was a faithful member of Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun where he served as both a deacon and elder. He enjoyed farming and woodworking and made beautiful clocks for each of his grandchildren.

David is survived by his children: Karen (Gerry) Meekma of Randolph, Joann Lemmenes of Beaver Dam, Debra (Rick) Fude of Brandon, Lois (Keith) Greenfield of Waupun, and David (Marni) Lemmenes of Waupun; his grandchildren: Matthew Meekma, Aaron Meekma, Andrew (Krista) Mulder, Rachel (Jerome) Vogedes, Emily (Daniel) Stutz, Whitney (Jim) Keyes, Cody Fude, Colton (Ashley) Fude, Jennifer (Rohn) Bishop, Grant (Jennifer) Greenfield, Brittany (Adam) Buss, Amber (friend David) Lemmenes, Meaghan (friend Josh) Lemmenes, and Morghan Lemmenes; great-grandchildren; his sister, Wilma (Larry) Giebink; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeanette Derksen, Hilda (Don) De Vries, and Frieda (Wyman) Vande Zande.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (2014); his parents; his brothers: Albertus, Harold, and Lloyd Lemmenes; sisters: Merle Lemmenes, Kathleen Freriks, and Jean Westhuis; brothers-in-law: Newton, Chester, Art, John and William De Young; and sister-in-law, Ann Hollander.

Funeral services for David H. Lemmenes will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun with Chaplain Bill Schuerman and Pastor Brent Matzen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives of David H. Lemmenes may call on the family on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Reformed Church, Agnesian Hospice, or Marvin’s Manor.
