David H. Wanke

David H. Wanke, 89 of Campbellsport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

He was born on February 27, 1932, to the late Peter and Louise (nee Kreniak) Wanke in Athens, WI. David honorably served in the United States Army as a leader of the 728th Military Police Battalion during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Arlene Rindt and she passed on March 19, 1991. He later married Virginia Loeher. David was a carpenter his whole life and owned and operated Wanke Construction. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing sheepshead. David especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Those David leaves behind to cherish his memory include hid three children, Debra (Paul) Hume, Barbara (Bill) Fults, and Scott (Julie) Wanke; five grandchildren, Jeff Wanke, Mike Wanke, Calista (Noah Mages) Wanke, James Wanke, and Kaitlyn Wanke; two sisters, Mary (Art) Kirchgasner and Lucy (Fred) Larer; four brothers, Peter Wanke, James “Jim” (Karen) Wanke, William “Bill” (Elaine) Wanke and Johnny (Ellen) Wanke; a sister-in-law, Celine Wanke; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Brian (Yaney) Wanke, his infant sister, Jeanette; his first wife, Arlene; his second wife, Virginia; two brothers, Ervin Wanke and Herbert (Kay) Wanke; a sister, Alice (Lenny) Salzman; and a sister-in-law, Luanne Wanke.

A Celebration of Life in remembrance of David will be held at a later date.
