David K. Shell

David K. Shell, 79, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at  

St. Agnes Hospital, under the care of Hospice Hope.

He was born in Fond du Lac, on October 20, 1934, son of Agne and Astrid Shell.                    

David attended Fond du Lac Senior High School and married his high school sweetheart, Audrey R. Voss, on July 11, 1953.

He retired from Galloway West in January of 1980 after 30 years.

David loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his grandchildren’s furry friends.  He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the Bemis cottage, deer hunting, reading, watching sports, and spending time with his family. 

David was passionate about helping others with home projects and was dedicated to assisting with the annual auction at Trinity Baptist School, his grandchildren’s school.  Every day you could find Dave at O’Connor Oil with a coffee mug in hand, cracking jokes, and telling tales with Kathy, Chris, and the gang.  He also enjoyed attending the Closer to Glory get-togethers.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; three children:  Cindy (Roger) Cook, Jeff Shell (special friend, Linda Beyer), and Tim (Lisa) Shell; grandchildren:  Andrea (Michael) Friis, Jennifer (Jon) Egen, Ashley (Rob) Steffes, Aaron “Buddy” Cook, David (Toni) Shell, and Megan Shell (special friend, Brandon Smith); great-grandchild, Kiernan; special cousins:  Mary Jean (Jerry) Aspatore and Milton Anderson; two brothers-in-law:  Don Voss and Tom Voss; a sister-in-law, Judy (Jerry) Krueger; nieces, nephews, and family friends, Betty Marx and Amy Knutson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty (Donald) Shealer; a brother, Richard Shell; in-laws, Orin and Ruth Voss; three sisters-in-law:  Joan (Ron) Maurice, Joyce (Bob) Luebke, and Marie Voss; and a special friend, Gary Bemis.

A memorial service for David will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014,                  at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. John Fuchs officiating. 

A period of visitation will follow the memorial service at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in David’s name would be appreciated.
