David L. Olofson Jr.

Dave L. Olofson, Jr. passed away on June 30, 2021 peacefully at home with family by his side.

He was born in Denver, CO 2/28/1949 to David Louis Olofson. Sr and Dorothy Mae (nee Hoke) Olofson of Denver, CO.  After his father passed away his mother remarried Ed Bartlett and they moved to Wisconsin to a little town called Neosho.

Dave was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hartford, Wisconsin and went to Hartford Union High School where he was active in football. He was also involved in the Neosho baseball league, trapped shooting, camping, fishing & an avid hunter. He loved classic cars and enjoyed the sprint & midget car racing. 

Dave married his high school sweetheart Patricia A. (nee Gehl) Olofson on June 6, 1970 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hartford.  Shortly after, he graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering from MSOE, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI in 1971.

Dave was very active in the church and served as President at the Valders Church and Church of Our Savior in Fond du lac along with teaching Sunday School, serving as an usher, advisor and various other duties.

After decades of being a dedicated hard worker, Dave retired from Giddings and Lewis, Fond du Lac in 2015 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Dave is survived by his three children, David R. Olofson (Susan Sokoloski), Fond du Lac, Treana Olofson, Denver, CO and Kristine Olofson (Son in Law – Chris Garcia) Oshkosh, WI; Five grandchildren, Alex, Isabella, and Sophia Olofson of Berlin, WI and Adam and Ethan Ketter, of Oshkosh; Sister, Sharyn Mantz of IL; Father, Ed Bartlett of Beaver Dam, cousins, and many step sisters and brothers, Nephews and Nieces. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, David L Olofson, Sr, & Dorothy Mae (nee Hoke) Olofson, Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles and Step mother, Delores Bartlett.

Dave’s family will greet friends and relatives for a time of visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM.

Memorials given will be used to establish a memorial fund in Dave’s name.
