Deacon Larry L. Hughes

Deacon Larry
L. Hughes, 77, of Fond du Lac, passed away at St. Agnes Hospital on Monday,
October 6, 2014.  Larry was born in the
Town of Nekimi on August 7, 1937, a son of William L. Hughes and Virginia Mae
Garland.

On August 8,
1959 he married Sharon B. Raube at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du
Lac.  On January 22, 1983 he was ordained
a deacon for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. 

Larry was a
graduate of the Fond du Lac Senior High School. 
He was employed in a few occupations until he was hired at Mercury
Marine, where he was department manager when he retired from there in
1995.  Larry was then chosen as deacon
for St. Patrick’s Church, and then at St. Joseph’s Church and eventually at
Holy Family Parish.  He retired from the
active ministry in 2012. 

Deacon Larry
was a member of the Fond du Lac Jaycees, the Knights of Columbus Council 664,
where he was also a Fourth Degree Knight. 

Larry
enjoyed his Friday night fish fry at Lakeview Supper Club and Sunday evening
meal at Sebastian’s Steak House.   Formerly he enjoyed line dancing with the
Cheyenne Shuffle Club.  He also liked
doing household repairs and projects. 
Most of all, Larry loved time spent with his family and friends. 

Deacon Larry
is survived by Sharon, his wife of 55 years; three sons, Steven (Robbi) of Fond
du Lac, Michael (Gemma) of Fond du Lac and Paul (Michelle) of Kissimmee, FL;
six grandchildren, Maggie (Vince), Emily (Jake), Ciarra, Jayden, Haley, Jaimie;
three great grandchildren, Olivia, Kaeden and Sydney; two brothers, Ray Kelly
Jr. and Jack Hughes; five sisters, Gloria Kelly, Vicki (Jim) Hauman, Kathy
(Steve) Pennau, Susan (Don) Pennau and Julie (Frank) Williams; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.

Preceding
Larry in death are his parents; grandchildren, Zander and Jullian; brother,
Robert Kelly.

Visitation: 
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral
Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 4:00
PM until 7:00 PM.  There is also
visitation at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac on Friday,
October 10, 2014 from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. 

Service:  At 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church on Friday, October 10, a
Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated. 
Entombment will follow at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum.
