Delores Kraus

Delores “Dottie” Kraus peacefully moved into her eternal home on February 28, 2021 at Woodlands Senior Park Assisted Living, Fond du Lac.

Dottie was born on January 13, 1928 in Mountain, WI to Anton M. and Mary T. (Kugel) Popelka.  She was raised on the family farm and was second youngest of 14 brothers and sisters.   She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Mountain High School in 1945.  With an office job waiting her at St. Agnes Hospital, Dottie immediately moved to North Fond du Lac to live with an older sister.  She soon met the love of her life, Gerald Kraus, and they were married on June 5, 1948.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald in 1977; her parents, Anton and Mary; her seven brothers, Harold, George, Adrian, Louis, Joseph, Antone, Jr. and Henry; six sisters, Marie, Ann, Elizabeth, Irene, Margaret and Patricia; and son-in-law, Frederick “Brad” Ingram.

Dottie is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn (Jim) Braun of Fond du Lac, WI and Barbara Ingram of Johnston, IA; her brother, Alvin Popelka of Glenbeulah, WI;

seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to the staff at Zacherl Funeral Home, the care team at Agnesian HealthCare’s Hospice Hope, Chaplain Bill Schuerman and to the staff at Woodlands Senior Park Assisted Living for their compassion, the exceptional care, loving attention and the guidance and support for the family during this difficult time.  She has been laid to rest at Ledgeview Cemetery. The family will gather for a Celebration of Life at a future date.
