Dennis B. Conger

Dennis B. Conger, age 71, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, due to complications from a chronic illness. 

He was born November 25, 1950, in Fond du Lac to Alvin & Margaret (Ryan) Conger. Dennis grew up in Oakfield and graduated from Oakfield High School Class of 1968. 

On May 31, 1969, he married his turtle dove Judy Burbach at St. James Catholic Church in Oakfield. 

Dennis served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and worked at Mercury Marine for 30 years.  He had a fierce love of family, our Country and the outdoors.  He was a member of Sons of Zebedee-St. John Catholic Church, the Marine Corp League McCullen-Kimpel Detachment 552, Pipe Fishing Club and Whitetails Unlimited.

Dennis is survived by his wife Judy of 52 years and their 13 children; his daughter Tonya (Aaron) Anderson; his daughter Pamela (Doug) Hunter, and their children, Erika (Kyle), Jeff (Courtney) and Taylor; his son Daryl Conger and his children, Jon (Lisa), Tyler and David; his daughter Shelby Kapitanski (and partner Barry) and her children, Nathan (Brittney) and Katelyn; his daughter Missy (Mike) Vander Sanden and their children Maggie, Jack, Will and Samuel; his son Kevin Conger and his children Nathan, Dillon, Cory and Abagail; his daughter Maria Conger (and partner Brian Sabel) and her children Austin and Calvin; his daughter Theresa (Tim) Dix and their child Trinity; his son Nick Conger;  his son Ben (Emily) Conger and their children Henry, Charlotte, Vivian and Logan; his son A.J. (Emily) Conger and his daughter Ellcee, and stepchildren Isabelle, Olivia and Tyler; his daughter Crystal Conger; his daughter Karen (Casey) Harmer and their child Declan.  He is further survived by 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers Dale (Barb) Conger, Dean (Nancy) Conger; his sisters Deanna (Pete) Haen, Doreen Conger, Deidra Wood and Darilyn Hooper, his brothers-in-law, David (Shari) Burbach, Michael Burbach (and partner Verna), Steve (Brenda) Burbach, Rick Burbach; his sisters-in-law Jeanine Mangewala, Barb Conger; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many close friends. 

Preceding Dennis in death were his parents, Alvin & Margaret Conger; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Sylvester and Loretta (Hesse) Burbach; his daughter-in-law Renee Conger; his brothers Daniel Conger and David Conger; his brothers-in-law, Jon Wood and Robert Hooper; his sister-in-law Janice Brownell; his niece Colleen Brownell. 

The family would like to thank Father Miniatt for his many home visits, the Eucharist and Last Rites; the medical teams at Froedtert Hospital, the Milwaukee and Appleton VA Medical Centers, St. Agnes Hospital, Mt. Calvary Ambulance and LifeStar; and Marquardt Hospice for their compassion, friendship and skilled assistance. 

VISITATION: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Kurki Funeral Chapel, 31 E Division St, Fond du Lac and from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Sons of Zebedee Catholic Church, 101 N Main St, Oakfield. 

SERVICE: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Sons of Zebedee Catholic Church, 101 N Main St, Oakfield.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 686 Fond du Lac Ave, Fond du Lac.
