Dolores Ann Berg

Dolores Ann Berg of Fond du Lac, WI, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the age of 92, surrounded by family and caring staff at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.

Dolores was born on March 3, 1921, in Milwaukee, WI a daughter  to William and Veranna (Lesche) Stelzl. She married Harold Rodman Berg on January 31, 1942 amidst the challenges of WW2.

Dolores was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She engaged in many careers such hair dresser, bookkeeper, sales clerk, making bullets at Briggs & Stratton during the war and of course a homemaker extraordinaire. She was a great Mom. She loved to serve and was involved as a Lioness, in many churches and women’s auxiliaries, the Red Hat Club, Resident Council Representative at St. Francis Home and Advocate Leader for Florida’s Right to Life.

Dolores enjoyed baking, shopping, going to Mass, praying, sewing, playing cards, being on the lake, visiting with friends, her grandchildren and “managing her kids.”

Dolores is survived by her brother Jerome (Kathy) Stelzl; sister Evelyn (Jerry) Lenartz; children, Cynthia (Jerry) Heil of Rhinelander, Suzanne Meigs of Napa, California, Jonathan (Carol) Berg of Minoqua, Timothy (June) Berg of Madison, Jane (Ken) Bowers of Madison, Steven (Kelly) Berg of Wind Lake, Harold (Pat) Berg of Hartland, Margaret Galaska of Fond du Lac, Bill (Cherie) Berg of Cambridge, MN., and by 25 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Harold Rodman Berg, her parents William and Veranna Stelzl.

Visitation:  The family will receive relatives and friends at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac, on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM. 

Services:  At 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Francis Home Chapel with a lunch following at the Trinity Restaurant. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison.

A special “Thank You” goes to the remarkable family and staff of the St. Francis Home whom Dolores held dear to her heart.
