Donald E. Miller

Donald E. Miller, age 88, of Fond du Lac, passed away on October 28, 2018, at the Hospice Home of Hope after a valiant struggle with esophageal cancer. He was born on June 2, 1930, in Fond du Lac, the son of Elmer and Margaret Miller.

Don graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1948. He apprenticed at the Fond du Lac Reporter where he worked as a printer for 44 years until retirement in 1992. Don joined the National Guard September 20, 1948. He was a corporal upon discharge. He also belonged to the Army Reserves for a number of years.

On May 30, 1953, he was united in marriage to Luella (Lu) Wegener. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in May. Don was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, traveling, watching sports and spending time with his family and friends, especially enjoying a good game of Sheepshead.

Survivors include his wife Lu, three daughters, Peggy (Ronald) Church of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Patti (Randy) Wohlfeil, of Almond, WI, Lori (Paul) Francar, of DePere, WI, six grandchildren, Craig (Brittany) Wohlfeil, Alan Wohlfeil, Jennifer (Ryan) Klippel, Heidi (Rob) Leonoff, Kevin Gulig, and Jessica Francar, four great grandchildren, Whitney May Klippel, Jay Donald Klippel, Connor Robert Leonoff, Mason Joseph Leonoff, two sisters, Joyce ( Jack ) Kennedy, Joan Hurst and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one Brother-in-law, Davey Hurst and one infant daughter, Nancy.

VISITATION: Friends may call on Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin-American Drive, Fond du Lac.

FUNERAL: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Tom Meyer officiating. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice Home of Hope.
