Doris J. Gerner

Doris J. Gerner, age 81, of Chilton, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born January 31, 1930 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Owen H. & Doris (Dunbar) Jones. Doris graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1954 with a degree in Education. She married Harold Gerner on May 12, 1956 at the Church of the Gesu in Milwaukee. During her life, Doris worked in Chilton with Dr. Humke until he retired, and continued working with both Dr. Tipler, then Dr. Lozada; she retired in 1998. Doris also worked in the area as a substitute teacher for several school districts. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and enjoyed watching old movies. Her knowledge of actors and actresses was astounding and could recall who starred in what movie. Doris had a passion for reading and was well known in the Chilton Public Library. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose companionship will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Harold. Survivors include her husband: Harold; 2 children: Catherine Warden of Woodbridge, VA, James (Rose) Gerner of Chilton; and 2 grandchildren: Michael Gerner and Michelle (Tony) Pullara. Funeral service will be at 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 20, 2011. A memorial fund has been established for the Chilton Public Library in the name of Doris J.
