Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Abler

Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Abler, 76, of Fond du Lac died Monday, July 15, 2013 at her home.

Dorothy was born December 1, 1936 in Lomira, WI, a daughter of Bernard and Pauline (Gosen) Meis.

On October 1, 1955 she married John E. Abler at St. Marys Church in Lomira, WI.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church Altar Society, the Malone Area Heritage Museum and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years.   She also worked on the family farm.  Dottie most enjoyed spending time with her family, getting together with friends and neighbors and helping in any way that she could.

Dottie is survived by her husband John; one daughter Cindy (Dan) Schaefer of St. Peter; one son Wayne (Julie) Abler of Winneconne; five grandchildren, Daniel (Sarah) Schaefer, Stephanie (Joshua) Schmidt, Brad Van Caster (Tara Bowers), Mark Van Caster (Tara Lutz), and Anthony Abler; sister, Marie Woehrer; brother Henry (Renate`) Meis; her sister-in-law, Sister Rose Marie Abler OSF; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lucille (Andrew) Kiefer, and her brother Norman (Bernice) Meis.

Visitation: Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Church at 6:30 PM.  Burial will be in St. Peter Church Cemetery, St. Peter on Thursday, July 18 at 9:00 AM.

Memorials may be directed to the Agnesian Hospice Hope Program.
