Dorothy Patchett

Dorothy Patchett, 94, passed away on January 28th, 2022, in Fond du Lac Wisconsin.

Dorothy Patchett was born on November 22, 1927 in Milwaukee WI, to Rudolph and Hilda Makus.

Dorothy married Harold Patchett on September 9, 1950. After Harold and Dorothy married, they made their home in Oak Center, eventually moving to Oakfield where they lived for many years. Dorothy was employed by Romort’s Factory in Oakfield as a machinist for a short time until they closed their doors. She then found employment in Fond du Lac at Wells, Inc. as a machinist. Later on, she worked at Florence Eismann sewing beautiful children’s clothes. She created many clothes for her grandchildren and would sew pajamas for each one of them at Christmas time. During her tenure at Florence Eismann, she moved with her husband to Fond du Lac where she resided for the rest of her life. Over the years she did volunteer work at the Thrift Store in Fond du Lac, St. Agnes Hospital and at the Fond du Lac Senior Center.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Barb Ryan of Sheboygan, son-in-law Miles Mertens of Van Dyne; five grandchildren, Lisa (Jim) Huebner, April (Jamie) Haas, Amy (Eric) Petrauski, Patrisha Ryan and Travis (Jessica) Mertens; and ten great-grandchildren; one sister Dolores (Richard) Grunwald of Detroit, Michigan.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sandy Mertens, son-in-law David Ryan; two sisters; Lydia Hintz and Elsie Zold and two grandchildren; David Jr. and Kristy Ryan.

Private services will be held at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 55 Prairie Road, in Fond du Lac. Burial will be in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.

The family would like to thank the staff at Woodlands Senior Park for their care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to Agnesian Hospice Hope or Faith Ev. Lutheran Church.
