Dorval J. Simon

Dorval John Simon, 94, a resident of Fond du Lac, passed away August 22, 2018 at Artisan Assisted Living Center, Fond du Lac.

He was born February 9, 1924 in Fond du Lac a son of the late Edward S. and Nellie DeVelice Simon.

On June 8, 1950 he married Genevieve M. Kohlmann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fond du Lac.

He served in the United States Army from April 21, 1943 to February 8, 1946 with the 31st Division, 117th Field Artillery Battalion in New Guinea, Morotai Island and the Philippines.

Dorval was employed for 25 years at Ripon Foods in sales, and later by Milwaukee Biscuit for 10 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, and a Charter Member of Sacred Heart Church, V.F.W. Post #1904, American Legion Post #75, The Travelers Protective Association and A.A. R. P.

Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn (Charles Jr.) Keys of Eldorado, one son, David (Mary) Simon of Fond du Lac, nine grandchildren, Jason (Rita) Keys, Joseph (Bridget) Keys, Johnathon (Jodi) Keys, Marie (Brian) Schumacher, Melissa (Casey) Verheyen all of Fond du Lac and Jeff (Adeena Denslow) Keys of Malone, Justin (Leah) Simon, Paul (Kelsey) Simon, and Stephanie (Fiancée, Justin Garb) Simon all of Fond du Lac, 20 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jacob and Lilly Keys, Kameron, Kaden and Karter Keys, Jenna, Juliann and Jaxson Keys, Easton Keys, Jordan and Brady Schumacher, Owen and Sydney Verheyen, Kylah, Halystn, and Breelyn Simon, Lexi, Milee and Gavin Simon. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve on January 9, 1997, seven brothers, Lloyd, Earl (Betty), Dale (Rose), Raymond (Marion), Steve, Roy (Gladys) and Robert, three sisters, Glendola (James) Shipla, Hazel Stoner and Grace (James) Freeman, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph and Edwina Kohlmann, a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Bernard) Bengel.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 24, 2018 at the Zacherl Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held on Saturday August 25, 2018 at Holy Family Parish Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish Church on Saturday 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, where military honors will be held.
