Douglas A. Shireman

Douglas A. Shireman, 55, passed away unexpectedly on May 20th, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital.

Doug was born in Richland Center, WI on May 4, 1966 to Alden and Mary Shireman. Doug was a graduate of Richland Center High School and received both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from UW-Milwaukee. Doug was an avid lover of architecture, history, and reading.

On June 13th, 1992, Doug was married to Susan Markus in Racine. They had 3 children together.

Doug and Susan moved to Fond du Lac in 1998 where he began his career as a financial advisor for Edward Jones.

Doug quickly became involved in serving the community, and was an active volunteer for the Knights of Columbus, Noon Optimists, Holy Family, and SMSA.

He served on the Board of Directors for St. Francis Home and the SMSA Foundation.

He delivered Mobile Meals, coached recreational baseball and softball teams and volunteered at the library delivering books to those who could not easily get out. While Doug kept himself busy with community service, he also found time to travel around the world with his family and see all of his favorite historical places in person.

Doug is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan; two sons Jack and Peter Shireman and daughter Lily Shireman; his mother Mary Shireman; brother Greg (Janie)Shireman; brother-in-law Tim (Lorie) Markus; sister-in-law Kathy (Rick) Ambrose; nephews Nick (Chelsea) Shireman and Eric Shireman.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Alden; his sister Patricia Shireman; mother and father-in law Bob and Alice Markus and brother-in law Tom Markus.

Doug will be forever loved and remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, voracious reader, and strong advocate for enjoying the simple things in life. His goofy sense of humor and mastery of dad jokes will forever be missed.

“The pain of a loss reflects how deeply we have loved”
