Edwin O. Radtke

Edwin O. Radtke, 81, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

 

He was born on January 27, 1931, in Fond du Lac, a son of Edwin H. and Hulda M. Hagenau Radtke.

 

Edwin served with the United States Army 40th Division from 1951 – 1953 during the Korean Conflict.

 

On March 27, 1971, he married Joy K. Kleinschmidt Grosenick.

 

He was employed for 30 years with JFAhern & Co. and also with Alex Leonard for 10 years.

 

Edwin was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.

 

He is survived by six children:  Kathy (Dave) Averbeck of Dousman, Mark (Mary) Radtke of Peoria, AZ, Connie (Dave) Burnett of Tempe, AZ, and Todd (Michelle) Radtke of Hastings, MN, Lee (Gayle) Grosenick of Sheboygan, and Cheryl Grosenick of Fond du Lac;

12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters:  Ruth Bargenquast of Fond du Lac, and Betty Zambo of Cudahy; and a sister-in-law, Sherill Radtke of Westminster, CA.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joy Radtke, on December 24, 2011;

a brother, Clayton Radtke; two brothers-in-law: Donald Bargenquast and Robert Zambo; and a nephew, David Bargenquast.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating.  The visitation will be on Friday at church from noon until the time of service.  Entombment and military rites will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
