Elaine Merry Edge
Elaine Merry Edge, age 76, of Fond du Lac, WI passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at The Woodlands Senior Park.
She was born April 30, 1936 in Bloom City, WI the daughter of Carson and Katherine Merry Haville.
Elaine was a graduate of University of Wisconsin Platteville. She taught in a small one-room schoolhouse in Beetown, WI. On May 18, 1957 Elaine married Lowell H. Edge in Bagley, WI. Upon marriage they moved to Galena, IL where they began their family. Lowell later took a job as an assistant professor for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1965. In 1970 Elaine went to work for the Oshkosh Public School System where she worked until retirement. They then moved to their vacation home on the Bay of Green Bay until Lowell’s death, after which she moved to the Woodlands Senior Park.
Elaine spent much of her life working with the Presbyterian churches in the communities that they lived. They were very active within the Masonic Lodge especially with the White Shrine. They devoted time to the Salvation Army as well as other charities. Their grandchildren were a huge part of their life, enjoying various activities with them.
Elaine is survived by her children, Wayne (Christine) Edge, Kathy (Mark) Rosinski and Susan (John) Hessefort. Her special granddaughters Heather (Jason) Barkholtz, Brittany and Meghan Edge; Alicia, Kate and Melissa Hessefort; her sister Kay (John) Klein, Sister-in-law Carol Haville; brother-in-law Jack (Kathryn) McLimans, sister-in-law Harriet (Burnell) Deiter and by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 17, 2004, one infant daughter Lisa Anne, a sister Nancy McLimans, brother Lloyd Haville and brother-in-law Merlin Gehrke.
Visitation: Elaine’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, WI, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM.
Services: At 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 19, at the Zacherl Funeral Home, a Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Cremation will follow these traditional services and inurnment will be in the Rienzi Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the staff of Woodlands Senior Park for the compassionate and loving care given to Elaine.
