Elda A. Hankwitz

Elda A. Hankwitz, 93, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, where she resided the past ten years.

 

She was born on September 7, 1919, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Arthur and Adelia Breitenfeld Hankwitz.

 

Elda was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School and attended Fond du Lac Vocational School.

 

She was a secretary for 18 years at Infant Socks, then going to work for the City of Fond du Lac as a secretary in the City Clerk office for 22 years, retiring in 1983.  She volunteered at St. Agnes Hospital and the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

 

Elda was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church, Fond du Lac, where she served as a First Usher Coordinator and taught Sunday school.  She was a member of the Peace Circle and Tri-C Class.

 

She is survived by two nephews:  Douglas Hankwitz and Randolph Hankwitz; a niece, Pamela (Ron) Challis; four great- nieces;  Traci Hankwitz, Mindy Hankwitz, Darci Atkins, and Jennifer (Andy) Rogers.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers:  Lawrence (Marie) Hankwitz and Earl (Anita) Hankwitz; and a sister, June (Robert) McAdam.

 

The visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac.  Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.
