Eleanor D. Kleinschmidt

Eleanor D. Kleinschmidt, 88, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born on September 23, 1925, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Steven and Gertrude Steinbarth                             Pittler.

On May 8, 1948, she married Donald P. Kleinschmidt at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, St. Peter’s Lutheran Gleaners and Winnebago Lutheran Academy Ladies Auxiliary.

During her working years, Eleanor was employed at Kitz & Pfeil Hardware Store and with the Brunswick Corporation.

She started the first ladies chapter of Ducks Unlimited in the state of Wisconsin and was active in GreenWings;  served as a past director of Marine Credit Union Gold and Silver Club;  HCE and Merrie Ettes Homemakers, served on the Class of ’43 Reunion Committee, and  was a member of the Oakfield Conservation Club.

Eleanor enjoyed hunting, D.U., bowling  and watching  her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids play sports.

Eleanor  is survived by two children:  Jim (Tracy) Kleinschmidt and their son, Kaleb, of Fond du Lac; Susan Snow, and her children,  Anna Wiese (Tim Lee) of Fond du Lac; her children Logan and Taylor Wiese;  Steven (Liz) Snow, their children Isabelle and Abigail Snow, of Oshkosh;  and  Tim Snow of Fond du  Lac;  a sister, Mary Jean (Will) Zeamer of Beaver Dam;  three sisters-in-law:  Mary Lou (Bob) England, Marlene (Ron) Pinkert, and Joyce Pittler, all of Fond du Lac; a brother-in-law, David (Elsie) Kleinschmidt of Villages, Fl.;  many nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on February 24, 2010; two brothers, Steven (Mary) Pittler,  Michael Pittler;  a sister, Deloris Kleinschmidt;  two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Kleinschmidt and Bruce Kleinschmidt; and a son-in-law, Richard Snow.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.  on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating. 

Burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated.
