Elvera M. Karls

Elvera M. Karls, 105, of Stockbridge, died on October 20, 2018, at St. Paul Villa in Kaukauna. She was born November 6, 1912, daughter of Frank and Barbara (Penning) Schneider. On April 29, 1942, she married Lloyd Karls at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hilbert, and together they had four children.



Elvera was a graduate of St. Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, and she was employed as a legal secretary at Fox & Fox Law Offices in Chilton from 1932 to 1942. She then joined her husband in the plumbing, heating, and hardware business until her retirement at age 94. She was a member of St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Stockbridge, and a longtime member of the Christian Mothers Society where she served as an officer for many years. 



She loved gardening, flowers, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed the time she and Lloyd spent at their cottage on Wheeler Lake, Lakewood, in the summer, and their winters spent in Gulfport, MS.



Elvera is survived by her children: Paul (Janet) Karls, David (Linda) Karls, Michael (Mary) Karls, and Mary Beth Meehl; her grandchildren: Sherry O’Neil, Joel (Jessica) Karls, Lynn (Shane) Glidden, Jason (Amy) Karls, Vicki (Jerry) Paltzer, Shelli (Robb) Paar, Paula Karls, Ryan (Jessica) Karls, Aaron (Jennifer) Karls, Nick (Tara) Karls, Shana (Nick) Josephson, Joel Meehl, Andrea Meehl, and Daniel Meehl; 29 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Ceil Schneider.



Elvera was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents: Frank and Barbara Schneider; her step-father: George Brechter; brothers: Alex Schneider, Robert (LaVerne) Schneider, and Franklin Schneider; a son-in-law: Thomas Meehl; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.



Funeral services are set for 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church (120 Davis St.) in Stockbridge, with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2:30pm until 4:45pm on the day of the service.
